É professor da Universidade de São Francisco e da Universidade Monash.[1]
Nasceu em Melbourne e lá viveu até ir fazer o doutorado no Instituto de Tecnologia de Massachusetts.[1] Obteve o PhD em 1970, orientado por Hartley Rogers, Jr..[2] Em 2002 começou a lecionar em São Francisco (Califórnia).
Em 2005 recebeu o Prêmio Chauvenet por seu artigo "The Story of the 120-Cell",[3] Notices of the AMS, janeiro de 2001, páginas 17–24.[4]
